Earlier in the week on Saturday, the man, identified as Leonard Torres, crashed his motorcycle into a truck that was parked., at a site in Ojai. According to reports, Torres was traveling down Highway 33, just south of Chorro Grande Creek, when he lost control of the motorcycle, crashing into the parked truck. Since the man was coming around a left turn, he slid off and underneath the parked truck.

CHP officers accompanied by others at the scene of the accident removed Torres after lifting the truck from atop him. After the 12:20 pm accident, Torres was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he remained for the past five days until he died. The medical examiner reported the time of death as 10:30 pm on Thursday night.

Authorities suspect that drunk driving played a role in the accident, and that the other vehicle’s driver was intoxicated when the crash took place. Around 9 pm, the police officer, who was traveling near Lankershim Boulevard in LA, was hit unexpectedly by another vehicle. According to reports, the driver who hit the motorcycle had attempted to complete a turn in front of police officer at an intersection.

When authorities arrived at the crash, the LAPD officer had already suffered injuries, and was complaining of pain. His vital signs did not indicate a critical problem, but the officer was taken to Providence Holy Cross for treatment. Police officers who responded to the motorcycle accident took in the other driver on suspicion of drunk driving.
